About One-Way Vs. Both-Way E/C Links

E/C links can be either One-way or Both-way depending on which option is selected when creating the E/C Link.

EC_Link_4

If the user selects Yes, it will create a Both-way Link and if the user selects No, a One-way link is created.

E/C A <--> E/C B

With the following scenario, E/C A is the currently selected E/C, and it is selected for Both-way Link to E/C B. If the user looks up compliance using E/C B as the document search criteria, compliance records for both E/C A and E/C B will be found. Similarly, when the user searches using E/C A as the document search criteria, it will show compliance records for E/C A and E/C B.

E/C A --> E/C B

If the E/C Link is only a One-way Link, E/C A is selected for One-way Link to E/C B. If the user looks up compliance using E/C A as the document search criteria, ONLY compliance records for E/C A will be found. However, if the user searches using E/C B as the document search criteria, it will show compliance records for E/C A and E/C B. A Both-way E/C Link would have to be created in order to show compliance records for E/C B by searching for E/C A.
