Preparing the MPD File

The Maintenance Planning Data (MPD) fields and its contents must meet the specifications defined in the table below in order to load correctly into TRAX. After the Excel file is modified to the specifications it must be converted to tab delimited text file for loading into trax. Keep a copy of the Excel file as the master source because, once the excel file is Saved as a tab delimited text file it cannot be opened again in Microsoft Excel for editing.

Prepare the MPD Excel File (.xls) provided by the aircraft manufacturer in Microsoft Excel as follows:

Open the Excel File in Microsoft Excel.

Arrange and modify the columns (fields) to meet the specification in the table below.

Note: Some cells may have multiple entries and the data must be line delimited inside that cell.

If field = ALL, then E/C and Task Card will be effective to all A/C in the system.

If field is blank, then there will be no A/C effectivity. (See notes.)

A/C Effectivity for E/C (A/C)

AND

A/C Effectivity for Task Card (A/C)

Note: When loading an MPD revision, if an Engineering Control is set up originally as a P/N E/C, but the MPD file has applicability against the aircraft, the system will override and remove the original P/N E/C effectivity and assign it to the aircraft effectivity. It is important that when this scenario is in effect, in order for the MPD Loader not to override the P/N E/Cs effectivity, the file must be amended by removing the aircraft effectivity against the Engineering Controls set up as a P/N E/Cs. When the aircraft applicability is removed and left blank, the system will retain the original P/N E/C effectivity.

Note: If this field is left blank in the import file, then there will be no A/C effectivity. However, if the A/C Effectivity Tab is populated with a Type/Series, then that Type/Series will override the blank effectivity field in the document and give effectivity to all Aircraft under that Type/Series.

Note: A/Cs must exist in the Aircraft Master.
