How to Create a Task Card and E/C from TraxDoc Loaded Manuals

TraxDoc allows the TRAX Task Card to be merged with content from the OEM manuals that are relevant to Trax Task Cards. Some of these manuals can also be used to set up TRAX engineering orders. Combined, they can be used to set up the maintenance program within TRAX.

Examples of these OEM Manuals include:

  1. AMM: Aircraft maintenance manual
    • The content of this manual allows TRAX to create TRAX Task Cards for every AMM task.
  2. EMM: Engine maintenance manual
    • The content of this manual allows TRAX to create TRAX Task Cards for every EMM task.
  3. MTCM: Maintenance Task Card manual
    • This is the Bombardier manual that is created by creating Task Cards for the required MPD items, and then referencing content on the AMM from it.
    • The content of this manual allows TRAX to create TRAX Task Cards and Trax Engineering Controls for every MTCM Task Card.
  4. TC: Auto-configured Task Cards
    • The content of this manual allows TRAX to create TRAX Task Cards and Trax Engineering Controls for every MTCM Task Card.
    • This is the Boeing manual that is created by combining the MPD items with the required AMM tasks needed to accomplish it.
  5. NDT: Non-destructive Testing manual.
    • The content of this manual allows TRAX to create TRAX Task Cards.
  6. SB: Service Bulletins
    • Service bulletins issued from vendors such as aircraft manufacturers that indicate a modification needs to be performed. This will create a Trax engineering order and task card.
  7. MPT: Boeing ToolBox Task Card module. See separate document for information on this particular integration.

To allow this, the following must be set up:

  1. The OEM manual content must be loaded into a TraxDoc record in the manner described in the document. For additional information, refer to Loading an OEM Manual into TraxDoc, via How to Create a Task Card and E/C from TraxDoc Loaded Manuals.
    • This includes loading it as XML, etc.
  2. The Task Card must use 'TraxDoc' as its editor in order to combine data from the TRAX Task Card and AMM into one print (as opposed to the AMM data printing as a separate attachment).
  3. The TraxDoc record used as the Task Card’s editor must be the TraxDoc containing a stylesheet file describing the layout/format of the Task Card.
  4. The only software, outside of that which Trax provides, which will be required for this process is Adobe Reader (free PDF reader). Not even Adobe Framemaker will be needed.
  5. Note in some OEM Manuals, the object used that is related to a TRAX Task Card is called a 'task', in some it is called a 'topic', and in other manuals it is referred to as 'Task Card'. This documentation will refer to it as 'task' for simplicity, but know that 'task' can mean both an OEM Task, topic, or OEM Task Card.
