Task Card Create from LM_CSDB, via Line Maintenance (LM_CSDB) Doctype

logo_15 big

The Line Maintenance CSDB is a technical publication that contains information related to line maintenance requirements of the aircraft. It could contain multiple manuals such as the AMM, IPD, SRM, NDT, FIM, and in some occasion it may also contain MPD and the EIPC and EMM.

TRAX allows the user to load and import/generate LM_CSDBs into a database via TraxDoc.

The following topic will detail the following:

  • How to create a TraxDoc for the LM_CSDB doctype
  • How to load a LM_CSDB into TraxDoc (including graphics, videos, etc.)
  • How to import/generate the LM_CSDB into the TRAX system

TraxDoc Set up (LM_CSDB):

Create a new TraxDoc.

Specify the SGML/XML Doctype in the TraxDoc Document Detail, Optional tab. In this example, select Line Maintenance Custom Source Database (LM_CSDB). Be sure that the S1000D Format checkbox is selected.

Select the Effectivity but_effectivity_small button to apply effectivity to the TraxDoc.

Note: The LM_CSDB Import for A220 S1000D manuals includes conditional and product-based effectivity for Task Cards Imported via TraxDoc.

Loading an XML into TraxDoc:

To load an XML into TraxDoc, follow the steps below.

From the TraxDoc Explorer, right click and select the New/ Load XML but_load_xml.jpg button as shown below. The user may also select the Load XML but_load_xml.jpg button from the File Multi but_file_multi button.

The TraxDoc SGML Load window pops up.

Select the folder that contains the desired information.

Once the Data Directory, or Directories (in the example) have been specified, select Save.

The following Load XML pop up will appear. Select 'OK' to continue with the load.

The following MS-DOC window will appear. The system will begin to load the records. The command window will remain open until the XML import is complete. This allows the user to review any errors that may have been generated by the process. Once all of the records have been loaded, the user may exit this window to continue.

The Maintenance IPD, and Maintenance Procedure manuals have been loaded into the TraxDoc. In addition, OEM graphics and videos have also been loaded as shown below:

Importing LM_CSDB into the system:

Once the SGML has been loaded successfully into TraxDoc, the user must import the manual into the system.

From the TraxDoc Document Detail, General tab, select the Import From OEM but_import_from_oem_manual_small button.

The Import For Line Maintenance Database window appears. Select the import option from the Multi Import Option drop down. In this example, the user has selected the LM Procedures option.

Populate all mandatory and desired information and select the Run button.

The following information/options are available in this window:

S1000D Revisions

Revisions to S1000D manuals may be provided to TRAX operators in two different ways. While some TRAX operators will be provided with revisions to the entire S1000D manual, other operators may be provided with only those specific files from within the manual that have been revised.

  • Complete revision: If the entire manual was revised, then the Revision Control button would be selected and the Create Empty Revision checkbox should be selected. A new revision of the TraxDoc will be created without any of the files that had been loaded in the prior revision. Then the revised complete manual can be loaded into the TraxDoc.
  • Partial revision: If only the revised files are provided, the system allows users to load the revised files to the TraxDoc while maintaining all other existing files in that TraxDoc. In this case the Revision Control button would be selected and the Create Empty Revision checkbox should be deselected. A new revision of the TraxDoc will be created with all of the files that had been loaded in the prior revision. Then the revised files can be loaded, which will replace only the applicable files. The non-revised files will remain in the TraxDoc.

For more information refer to the Revision Control button.
